Meet Karen Magee, Content Development – Eastern Canada, AMI

Karen Magee has been a passionate contributor to accessible media since joining AMI-tv in 2012, where she began by overseeing the Ottawa office. Today, she leads content development for Eastern Canada, with a focus on building meaningful, inclusive stories that reflect the lives and experiences of Canadians with disabilities.

Karen has developed several impactful series for AMI, including Mind Your Own Business, The Squeaky Wheel, and Pretty Blind. With over 30 years of experience in television production, including previous roles at Rogers TV and Ross Video, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the content creation process—from pitch to production.

At AMI, Karen plays a key role in screening pitches, shaping shows, and upholding AMI’s core values of accessibility and authentic disability storytelling—both in front of and behind the camera.
